Holston Valley Futbol Club Recreational Program

General Program Information 2009-2010

HVFC provides two recreational soccer seasons per year. The fall season runs from mid August through the end of October or early November. The spring season normally runs from early March to the third weekend in May. For Spring 2010, the season will run from Saturday, March 6 – Saturday, May 15. Online registration and payment is OPEN until March 21.  A late fee of $25 will be applied after March 8.

The recreational program is designed to provide opportunities for children to learn the game of soccer. It is designed to focus on player development with primary emphasis of development of skills.

Teamwork and sportsmanship are concepts that are incorporated into the program’s structure. Small-sided games are used to allow players to develop a feel for the game and to improve their skills in a competitive environment. Please note that the United States Youth Soccer Association recommends small-sided games for all youth players under the age of 12. Lastly the program is designed to prepare young players for the next level of competition, the competitive program.

All recreational players will be given equal amounts of playing time provided they attend games and practices regularly and on time. Please be prompt.

Games are played on Saturday mornings or early afternoon. Game times will vary depending on age group and field availability. Practices are on Mondays for U5/6 girls, U7/8 girls, U9/10 girls; Tuesdays for U11/12/13/14/15 coed and on Thursdays for U5/6 boys, U7/8 boys, and U9/10 boys. Practice is usually from 5:45 – 7:15 PM at Eastman Park at Horse Creek (2969 Sullivan Gardens Pkwy) depending on darkness. Generally teams will practice one day per week and play one game on Saturday. All players will receive awards at the end of the season.

Formation of Teams

Age group coordinators will form all teams.
